Fonterra’s dairy brand Anchor has been well-loved as a key part of everyday Azerbaijani life over the last two decades, with consumers here buying the equivalent of 12 million 5kg butter blocks over the last two decades. That’s more than one block of Anchor 5kg butter brought home every minute!

In the last year alone, the New Zealand-based global dairy nutrition leader Fonterra sold more than 600,000 5kg butter blocks of Anchor butter to Azerbaijani families – its most widely-sold format due to the large consumption.

Over the past 20 years, Fonterra has met the growing demand for dairy in Azerbaijan with Anchor butter and feta cheese, leveraging the generations of dairying expertise that have made New Zealand a leader in dairy, as well as the high quality of the Anchor brand which is more than 130 years old.

Gaby Amade, Fonterra Central Asia Middle East Africa Managing Director said, “We are delighted to have been a part of the everyday lives of Azerbaijani families for more than 20 years. Generations of Azerbaijanis have grown up with our butter on their tables and we want to keep bringing them high-quality, nutritious and tasty dairy nutrition that meets their changing needs.

“Azerbaijani consumers recognise the importance of healthy, natural foods such as dairy. With butter being just a churn away from milk, there is no more natural ingredient to accompany everyday cooking, pastry baking, and breakfast spreads.

“Looking ahead, we want to continue producing high-quality butter sourced from New Zealand where our green pastures, grass-fed cows and world-class food safety and quality standards enable us to produce the highest quality and greatest tasting butter. The yellow hue of our butter which Azerbaijanis love also mean our butter is high in beta-carotene, which is an essential source of Vitamin A.”
